Course Overview
This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to recognise and respond to seizures in children and young people, including the safe administration of Buccolam® (buccal midazolam) as emergency rescue medication. The training supports staff working in healthcare, education, social care, and community settings to provide safe and effective care during seizure-related emergencies.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Understand epilepsy and its impact on children and young people

• Recognise different seizure types and presentations

• Identify when emergency intervention is required

• Understand the indications for Buccolam® administration

• Safely administer Buccolam® in accordance with an individual's care plan

• Monitor and support a child following a seizure

• Respond appropriately during and after a seizure emergency

• Maintain accurate records and follow reporting procedures
